| Apple Cider Vinegar |
|
An acid garnish like lemons was originally added to a meal to aid digestion. When you go to a fine restaurant they may squeeze lemon into your water to aid digestion of the meal, and so you don't remember them due to indigestion.
We recommend the use of Apple Cider Vinegar, not because its necessary, but because its biochemistry wise beneficial. In apple cider vinegar, the sugars have been converted to vinegar, and it contains a approximately seven different acids that can be utilized by the body.
Acids can aid digestion of protein and fat, the assimilation of vitamins and minerals, and it inhibits certain bacteria and parasites. Try dissolving calcium in water, then try it again with some vinegar, it will dissolve in the vinegar. We recommend 1/4 cup of Apple Cider Vinegar per gallon of water for maintenance, and up to 2 tablespoons per cup in severe situations of a stagnant system.
Please note, the maintenance levels of vinegar are safe to use, but always increase or decrease slowly the amounts used, even if you think a bird is doing OK...just don't cut them off all at once.
We recommend the "filtered Apple Cider Vinegar" sold at any grocery store, with Heinz being the best. DON'T use "distilled or flavored" Apple Cider Vinegar (it will say on the label), these are products that are either further refined, or made from wood, etc. The label should either have no ingredients panel, or it should only contain apples and water.
