| Should I be concerned about feeding my birds a "seed only" diets?

Birds are like children, they tend to pick and choose only what they want. A bird will waste approximately 50% or more of a seed mixture. These seeds and hulls, which are sometimes coated with vitamins and minerals, may end up lost on the bottom of the cage. Although a good source of variety for your birds, seeds do not supply optimum nutrition. Necropsies show that malnutrition is one of the leading causes of death among exotic birds. Most of these birds were fed "seed only" diets.
