| What about other pelleted diets? |

First, although some bird food manufacturers refer to their product as a pelleted diet, they are actually an expanded diet that get cooked over 300 degrees. These temperatures cause the destruction of nutrients that need to be compensated for by spraying on vitamins and minerals. See our comparison vs. extruded diets.
Otherwise pelleted diets vary widely. Some diets look the same as Lake's but use low quality ingredients or are unbalanced in the nutrients a bird needs. Other diets use marketing or organic ingredients to drastically increase their pricing but in reality they do not offer a better diet.
Overall, it is an easy decision to use lakes because of our ingredient quality, nutritional balance and value per pound.
